The use of chemicals

We have recommended in various articles that chemicals are the best way to control many diseases and pests. If only this were not the case but, until successful environmentally friendly alternatives come along, many have no choice but to continue to do so.

Everyone knows that chemicals are disturbing nature and the environment. If you do not want to spray, don’t, it’s that simple. In most gardens roses are interspersed enough that disease should not become an overwhelming problem. Lets face it although we, in common with most Rosarians, suggest that a regular regime of spraying is practiced to overcome these problems, there are few that take this advice on board totally and many get away with only small disorders. These recommendations are made because we are expected to relay the best way to keep roses free from these factors and would not wish to lull gardeners into a false sense of security. Without a regime of chemical assistance there is no promise of healthy plants, but to re quote Peter Beales “what are a few black spots among friends?”
