Portlands. Versatile and Popular.

A small family but consisting of some of the most beautiful old roses.

Repeat flowering and usually well scented, with a neat, stocky growth habit, they are good choices for even the smallest garden. The neat proportions of even the larger Portlands allows them to grow well in pots where space is limited or they can be employed in hedging or group planting. Whilst a shady situation is not a good idea, most of them will tolerate all but the very worst soil. The flowers in shades of white through to magenta, often bear many petals and expensive fragrances.
