La Madeleine

Bred by Peter Beales Roses for Bonne Maman, La Madeleine is a warm amber to creamy yellow rose with beautifully formed blooms filled with layers of soft petals and a delicious, sweet fragrance. The flowers open from elegant buds into full, romantic blooms, their colouring echoing the golden caramel and creamy vanilla tones of the classic French madeleine that inspired its name. A modern-bred rose with strong health and vigour, La Madeleine forms a healthy, well-branched shrub with a repeat-flowering habit, typically reaching around 120cm in height and 90cm in spread (4ft x 3ft). It holds its shape well and is suited to borders, pots, mixed planting schemes and rose gardens, where its distinctive colouring and rich scent can be fully appreciated. Created to mark 21 years of Bonne Maman in the UK, La Madeleine brings together Peter Beales Roses’ passion for rose breeding with the charm and warmth associated with the famous French madeleine. Elegant, distinctive and full of character, La Madeleine is a rose with both beauty and a story to tell.

Yellow Mutabilis

Unique to us in the UK. Seedling of the famous China with many of the parents' attributes, except that of colour which is soft yellow fading to cream and has smaller flowers. Suitable for growing in warmer climates.

Tall Story

(Modern Shrub) Shapely buds open to semi-double, freesia scented, soft yellow flowers fading to white with age. Produced in large clusters on a reliable plant with good glossy foliage.

Leah Tutu

(Modern Shrub) Bred by Peter Beales Roses and released in 2009. Free flowering, multi-petalled, rich golden yellow colour shrub rose. Good fragrance and dark green foliage. Versatile.

Golden Wings

(Modern Shrub) Large, single clear yellow flowers on a tidy plant. Very free flowering.

Grosvenor House

(Modern Shrub) Bred by Peter Beales Roses and released in 2009. Heavily perfumed, classic hybrid tea style flowers, produced continuously throughout the summer. The blooms are rich golden honey in the centre, paling to creamy-yellow at the edges of the petals, Foliage is healthy, mid green and in abundance.

(Hybrid Musk) Semi-double apricot yellow flowers in large sprays on strong stems. Scented. Good foliage.

Faithful Friend

(Modern Shrub) Bred by Peter Beales Roses and released in 2007. Superb, nicely scented, bright yellow double blooms of this small shrub rose open up to display a coronet of amber coloured anthers. Borne in clusters with mid green and healthy leaves.

Canary Bird (Bush)

(Modern Shrub) Arching branches of bright yellow, single flowers with pronounced anthers. One of the earliest roses to flower.

Buff Beauty (Bush)

(Hybrid Musk) A vigorous plant bearing large trusses of medium sized, semi-double, fragrant, apricot yellow to buff-yellow flowers.

Ambassador Nogami

(Modern Shrub) Unique to us in the UK. Strong, yellow, semi-double, scented blooms borne amid healthy mid-green foliage. Upright growth. This lovely repeat flowering rose is ideal for group planting or growing in a pot. Bred by Beales and released in 2007. Introduced for a good friend of our Company, who was then, the Japanese Ambassador to the UK.

Souvenir d'Elise Vardon

Unique to us in the UK. (Tea) Fragrant flowers of coppery-yellow overlaid with cream. Suitable for growth in warmer climates. Unique to us in the UK.

Rosa Headleyensis

(Species) An outstanding hybrid of 'Rosa hugonis'. Large, scented, single, creamy-yellow flowers borne in abundance on an upright plant with ferny leaves. Tolerant of poor soil and shade. Could be used as a small climber and is suitable for woodland. Bred by Warburg.

Old Yellow Scotch

Unique to us in the UK. (Pimpinellifolia) Small, double, non-fading golden-yellow flowers borne on a thorny but compact plant. Early flowering. A very old variety.

Lichtkonigin Lucia

(Modern Shrub) This is an outstanding, accommodating shrub rose. Double, bright yellow, scented blooms. Healthy, glossy foliage in abundance. Should be better known.

Lady Hillingdon (Bush)

Pointed buds opening to superb golden yellow flowers. Dark foliage and purple stems. Fragrant. Suitable for growth in warmer climates.

Grandmere Jenny

(H.T.) Peach and goldenyellow, flushed pink. Free flowering and healthy. A shapely rose. Well worth growing.

Fruhlings Gold

(Modern Shrub) Large, single, golden-yellow flowers borne on a somewhat thorny, tall bush. Very profuse in bloom but not recurrent. A very hardy cultivar.
