(Rugosa). A very vigorous plant with spreading branches bearing pale amber-yellow blooms about 7.5cm across, which are full and scented. Recurrent. Shows its parentage with its dark green crinkled foliage and finely prickled stems. Hardy and tolerant of poorer soils and shade. Suitable to be grown in a container or as a hedge. A very useful rose where a yellow shade of the Rugosa type is desired and this is one of the few yellows within this family. Bred by Saunders.

Fragrant yellow roses for an island garden

That rarest of roses, a yellow rugosa, beautifully scented, flowers the size of your hand, on a rambling shrub, followed by autumn hips.

Best of all, I live in the Outer Hebrides where most roses struggle in the salt-laiden Atlantic gales. This lovely rose thrives.

Advice
What is a bare root rose?

A bare root rose is a rose plant that is sold with its roots exposed rather than planted in soil in a pot. These are typically available during the rose's dormancy period (late autumn to early spring) and are often chosen for planting in gardens.

Bare root or Potted
