Le Vésuve (Shrub Rose)

Overview:
Introducing Le Vésuve, a delightful and historic shrub rose that graces gardens with its timeless charm. Originally introduced in 1825 by the talented Jean Laffay in France, this magnificent China rose is adored for its clusters of shapely buds that bloom into softly flowing silvery-pink flowers, beautifully adorned with deeper shadings. The moderately fragrant blooms carry a gentle tea scent, adding an enchanting aroma to your garden.

Key Features:

- Bloom Characteristics: Le Vésuve boasts clusters of loosely packed, double pink blooms adorned with a delicate silvery reverse, creating a captivating swirl of colour. This remarkable rose is a repeat-flourisher, delighting you with an ongoing display of blooms throughout the season.
- Foliage: The shrub is beautifully cloaked in rich blue-green foliage, providing an appealing backdrop that highlights the exquisite blooms.
- Growth Habit: With a compact growth habit reaching approximately 3 feet by 3 feet (90cm x 90cm), Le Vésuve is perfectly suited for various garden spaces. Its ornamental plum-coloured stems and thorns elevate its visual interest even when not in bloom.
- Hardiness and Care: This resilient rose flourishes in a variety of conditions, although it may benefit from winter protection in colder areas. Versatile and tolerant of poorer soils, Le Vésuve thrives well in dappled shade, making it an excellent choice for different garden environments.
- Fragrance: The blooms emit a delightful moderately fragrant tea scent, further enhancing their appeal.

Planting and Care Tips:
To ensure optimum growth and health, plant your container-grown Le Vésuve in early June. This timing allows the young fibrous roots to establish fully. During the summer months, provide daily watering to keep your rose thriving and to maximize the beauty of its blooms.

Availability:
Le Vésuve is available for purchase in container form, allowing you to select the perfect plant during your visit to our nursery. Although container roses can be delivered throughout the year, it’s advisable to plant them out once early June arrives for the best results.

This historic and beautiful shrub rose is a must-have addition to any garden, offering a splendid combination of elegance and fragrance that will enchant rose enthusiasts and beginners alike. Complement Le Vésuve with companions such as lavender or catmint for a stunning garden display, where their colours and scents harmoniously blend together.
