Advice
What is a bare root rose?

A bare root rose is a rose plant that is sold with its roots exposed rather than planted in soil in a pot. These are typically available during the rose's dormancy period (late autumn to early spring) and are often chosen for planting in gardens.

Will bare root roses take longer to establish than potted roses?

Description:

The Lyda Rose is a captivating shrub rose that combines elegance with a delightful fragrance, making it a remarkable addition to any garden. Bred by Kleine Lettunich in the USA and named after her daughter, this modern shrub rose showcases single, white blooms delicately edged with a lavender-pink hue. The flowers are abundant and well-spaced, creating a stunning display that enchants throughout the growing season.

Key Features:

  • Fragrance: The Lyda Rose boasts an exquisite scent that can be appreciated even from several feet away.
  • Appearance: This rose features charming single, white blooms with lavender-pink edges, beautifully contrasted against dark, healthy foliage.
  • Growth Habit: Growing to approximately 4' x 3' (1.2m x 90cm), this shrub rose is perfect for garden borders, containers, or as part of a larger rose collection.
  • Care: The Lyda Rose is relatively easy to cultivate, tolerating a variety of conditions and soil types. Its shade tolerance and compatibility with container planting make it versatile for various garden settings.
  • Uses: Ideal for cut flowers, it also produces decorative hips if left deadheaded, adding an extra layer of interest to the garden.

Planting and Care Tips:

For optimal growth, plant the Lyda Rose in well-draining soil, ensuring the first inch of the branches is below soil level. If purchasing early in the season, it is recommended to leave the rose in its pot until early June to allow the roots to establish properly. Regular watering is essential, particularly during the summer months, to promote good health and maximize blooms.

The Lyda Rose is a unique and beautiful addition to any rose garden, offering a delightful blend of fragrance, charm, and ease of care that will impress both novice and experienced gardeners alike.
