Advice
What is a bare root rose?

A bare root rose is a rose plant that is sold with its roots exposed rather than planted in soil in a pot. These are typically available during the rose's dormancy period (late autumn to early spring) and are often chosen for planting in gardens.

Nozomi (Procumbent Rose)

The Nozomi Procumbent Rose is a splendid addition to any garden, known for its versatility and ability to thrive in a variety of settings. This delightful ground-covering rose brings beauty and resilience to your outdoor space.

Key Characteristics

  • Flowers: Delight in the profusion of small, star-like blooms that range from pearly-pink to white. These single flowers appear in abundance and will continue to bloom throughout the season if deadheaded regularly, ensuring a stunning display.
  • Foliage: The foliage is small yet abundant, adding to the rose's dense, spreading habit that beautifully complements any garden design.
  • Growth Habit: Being a procumbent rose, Nozomi grows wider than it does tall. It’s perfect for cascading down low walls, filling large beds, or softening shrubbery edges. With some support, it can even be trained as a small climber, adding vertical interest to your garden.
  • Hardiness and Tolerance: Nozomi thrives in less-than-ideal soils and can tolerate partial shade, making it a reliable choice for diverse garden conditions.
  • Maintenance: Preferring moist, well-drained soil, Nozomi requires regular watering, especially during the warmer months, to ensure vibrant health and prolific blooms.
  • Versatility: Its adaptability allows Nozomi to serve multiple purposes in your garden, from lush ground cover to a charming small climber.

Planting and Care

  • Planting: For the best results, plant Nozomi in early June, allowing time for the young fibrous roots to establish. Ensure that the first inch or so of the branches is below soil level, planting in a hole spacious enough for the root ball.
  • Watering: Water daily during the summer to maintain optimal health and encourage a vibrant floral display.

Additional Benefits

  • Wildlife Friendly: Nozomi is an excellent choice for attracting beneficial insects, enhancing your garden's ecosystem.
  • Disease Resistance: As a procumbent rose, Nozomi is generally resilient to diseases, making it a low-maintenance yet visually enchanting option.

With its beautiful, abundant blooms and versatile growth habits, the Nozomi Procumbent Rose is a fabulous selection for anyone looking to enrich their garden with a reliable and stunning ground cover.
