Advice
What is a bare root rose?

A bare root rose is a rose plant that is sold with its roots exposed rather than planted in soil in a pot. These are typically available during the rose's dormancy period (late autumn to early spring) and are often chosen for planting in gardens.

This modern climber is well-known for its gently scented, double flowers, showcasing a vibrant deep yellow hue that inspires memories of sun-drenched afternoons and picturesque landscapes.

Key Features

  • Flowers: The Poetical Liz is adorned with profuse, double bright yellow flowers that create a stunning visual contrast against any backdrop. Their delightful fragrance adds an extra layer of sensory joy to your garden, inviting bees and butterflies to dance among the blooms.
  • Growth Habit: This climbing rose exhibits vigorous and robust growth, making it the perfect choice for training up walls, trellises, or draping gracefully over arches. It can reach heights of approximately 10-12 feet, providing an abundant canopy of splendid blooms and lush foliage.
  • Care Instructions: Maintaining the Poetical Liz is straightforward. Prune in late winter by removing any dead or diseased branches and shortening lateral branches to 2-5 buds. This method encourages horizontal growth, which in turn promotes a greater abundance of flowers.

Companion Planting

To achieve a vibrant and multi-floral effect in your garden, consider planting climbing clematis nearby. This beautiful vine can intertwine with the rose canes, extending the flowering period and adding diversity to your garden display.

  • Ensure that your climbing rose has robust support to maintain its structure and encourage healthy growth.
  • Feed your climber monthly with a high-quality rose fertiliser during the summer months to enhance blooming and promote lush foliage.

With its stunning vibrant blooms and resilience, the Poetical Liz climbing rose is a splendid choice for gardeners eager to add height, beauty, and delightful fragrance to their outdoor spaces.
