  • Fragrance: Renowned for its strong, sweet fragrance, the blooms of this rose fill the garden with a captivating scent that delights the senses and attracts pollinators.
  • Growth Habit: As a rambling rose, Princesse Marie exhibits a robust and vigorous growth habit, making it ideal for training up structures such as arches, pergolas, or climbing through old trees. It's also fantastic for adorning walls and fences, transforming any space into a stunning floral feature.

  • Hardiness: This hardy rose is well-suited to various growing conditions, thriving in full sun, although it can tolerate partial shade. Its frost resistance ensures it withstands the British climate well.

Cultivation Tips

To ensure your Princesse Marie flourishes, plant it in well-draining soil and provide adequate support. Training the stems to climb spirally around pillars or obelisks, or securing them to horizontal wires or trellises, encourages even coverage and maximises the stunning floral display. Regular pruning will help maintain its shape and promote healthy growth.

Ideal Uses

The versatility of the Princesse Marie makes it a perfect choice for various garden settings. It is particularly effective in creating a grand entrance with flowers overhead, such as on an arch, or adding vertical interest to borders by training it up a pillar or obelisk.

Planting Distance

For optimal growth, plant your Princesse Marie around 300cm apart from other plants. This spacing allows for its vigorous spread and ensures it has room to thrive.

Companion Plants

Consider pairing Princesse Marie with Climbing Hydrangeas or Lavender for a harmonious garden display. The lush greenery of the hydrangeas complements the pink hues beautifully, while the aromatic lavender brings both fragrance and practical benefits, attracting bees and butterflies.

This enchanting rambling rose is a must-have for any passionate gardener looking to introduce classic elegance and delightful fragrance to their outdoor sanctuary.
