Advice
What is a bare root rose?

A bare root rose is a rose plant that is sold with its roots exposed rather than planted in soil in a pot. These are typically available during the rose's dormancy period (late autumn to early spring) and are often chosen for planting in gardens.

Often lovingly known as the Lady Banks Rose, this variety is cherished for its exquisite beauty and exceptional ease of care, making it a favourite among garden enthusiasts.

Key Features

  • Flower Form: The semi-double flowers showcase a delicate creamy-white hue, elegantly arranged in large trusses, creating an enchanting display.
  • Growth Habit: This medium climber can reach impressive heights of around 14 feet and spread up to 10 feet wide, making it perfect for adorning walls, fences, or even climbing through trees.
  • Thorns: Almost thornless, with only tiny prickles on the petioles, ensuring a safer gardening experience.
  • Foliage: Boasting semi-evergreen leaves, this rose provides year-round interest with its lush greenery.
  • Pruning: Requires minimal attention; once established, simply remove one or two older stems after flowering to promote vibrant new basal growth.
  • Sun and Soil: Thrives in sheltered, sunny spots but demonstrates resilience by tolerating poorer soil conditions.

Care and Use

  • Planting: Ideal for planting in a sunny, sheltered location with good air circulation to help prevent disease.
  • Support: Encourage the stems to climb upwards against trellises, fencing, or walls. Its relaxed growth habit also allows it to trail gracefully down slopes or cloak unsightly structures.
  • Maintenance: With its low pruning requirements, the Purezza is a fantastic choice for gardeners seeking a beautiful yet low-maintenance rose.

This stunning rambling rose is an exquisite addition to any garden, delivering a spectacular display of White Roses and a virtually thornless growth habit, making it a delight to cultivate and admire.
