Advice
What is a bare root rose?

A bare root rose is a rose plant that is sold with its roots exposed rather than planted in soil in a pot. These are typically available during the rose's dormancy period (late autumn to early spring) and are often chosen for planting in gardens.

Flowers:

This rose delights with clusters of soft, semi-double flowers showcasing a beautiful blend of Purple Roses that gently fades to mauve and grey. The moderately fragrant blooms exhibit a repeat to continuous flowering habit from June until the first frosts, making it a delightful addition to any garden.

Foliage:

The Purple Skyliner showcases glossy leaves in light green to mid-green, each divided into slightly serrated, ovate leaflets. Its lush foliage adds to the overall charm of the plant.

Growing Conditions:

This rose flourishes in fertile, humus-rich soil that is moist yet well-drained. Tolerating partial shade, it is perfect for north-facing walls, offering versatility for various garden settings. For optimal growth, plant in full sun to partial shade and be sure to mulch with well-rotted organic matter in late winter or early spring.

Care:

To ensure the health and prolific flowering of your Purple Skyliner, follow these care tips:

  • Apply a general rose or shrub fertiliser in early spring and repeat in early summer.
  • Prune according to the guidelines for climbing roses (pruning group 17).

Additional Features:

  • Wildlife Friendly: Attracts pollinators and beneficial insects to enhance your garden's ecosystem.
  • Tolerant of Poorer Soils: Excels in less-than-ideal soil conditions, making it suitable for varied garden environments.
  • Container Growing: Ideal for large containers, offering a beautiful display even in smaller garden spaces.

Availability:

The Purple Skyliner is available in 4-litre pots and can be ordered year-round. Additionally, bare root options are available from November to March.

This Purple Skyliner rose is the perfect choice for gardeners seeking a compact, repeat-flowering climber adorned with beautiful, fragrant blooms.
