Rosa Laevigata (Rambling Rose)

A bare root rose is a rose plant that is sold with its roots exposed rather than planted in soil in a pot. These are typically available during the rose's dormancy period (late autumn to early spring) and are often chosen for planting in gardens.

• Potted roses are grown in containers with soil, available for planting all year round.
• Bare root roses are supplied without soil and are typically only available from late autumn to early spring.

• Potted roses can be planted at any time of the year, provided the ground isn’t frozen or waterlogged.
• Bare root roses are best planted between November and March, while they are dormant.

• Ready for immediate planting at any time.
• Established root system, meaning they may bloom faster in the first season.
• Ideal for instant garden display.

• Typically more cost-effective than potted roses.
• Easier to transport as they come without heavy pots or soil.
• Excellent choice for large planting projects or when planting multiple roses.

• Potted roses are ideal for small gardens, quick results, or if you want to plant outside the bare root season.
• Bare root roses are perfect for experienced gardeners or those planning large-scale plantings in winter.

Keep them watered and in a sheltered spot if you don’t plant them right away. Avoid letting the soil dry out.

If planting is delayed, store bare root roses in a cool, frost-free place. Keep the roots moist by wrapping them in damp newspaper or hessian.

Bare root roses may take slightly longer to establish, but they often catch up quickly with proper care.

No, both bare root and potted roses are of the same quality. The difference lies in how they are sold and planted.

Yes, you can purchase bare root roses year-round, but we only ship them from November, depending on weather conditions
